This gorgeous feminine PANAMA HAT is the real deal, Bonita is Equadorian for Beautiful!
Each of our hats are hand-woven from the fibres of the TOQUILLA PALM, a plant native to Ecuador.
As each hat is hand crafted it will therefore differ in shade and brim size.
Did you know that Panama Hats, despite their name, are not actually made in Panama? It's said that workers on the Panama Canal were given these hats to protect them from the intense heat. Today, they make for a fabulous accessory to wear in the sun, shielding your hair and face from harmful rays. However, not all Panama hats are suitable for rolling - we recommend the colonial style with its ridged crown. And as a bonus, these hats only get better with age, gradually shaping to your head and developing a softness and unique patina.
How to Measure your head for your perfect fitting Panama
Use a flexible measuring tape: Ensure it's flexible and not too tight or loose
Position the tape: Place the tape measure around your head, just above your eyebrows and about 1 cm above your ears
Take multiple measurements: For accuracy, measure several times
Ensure a snug fit: Make sure the tape is snug but not too tight, as this measurement will reflect the hatband size. Looser is better: Looser hats are easier to adjust with hat sizing reducer tape, if needed.
Choose the next size up if in-between measurements: If your measurement falls between sizes, choose the next largest size.
Our Panama Hats are available in 4 sizes. 57cms, 58cms,59cms & 60cms
